Year 2 Rise to the Occasion

Year 2 are having so much fun, learning about the Great Fire of London this term. The fire itself started at 1am on Sunday morning in Thomas Farriner's bakery on Pudding Lane. To mark the start of the fire in a bakery, the children have taken the opportunity to bake some bread of their own - thankfully, with less catastrophic results!

The Great Fire of... Pipworth?

Year 2 have been learning all about the Great Fire of London, which famously tore through the capital city in 1666. To get a feel of what that might have looked like, the children have made their own 'Tudor' houses and, with Mick on hand to ensure a safe burning, set them alight. Watch the video below to see the, frankly spectacular, results!

Autumn 1

Bearded Dragons

The children have been busy reading stories and finding out facts about 'bearded dragons'. All of this information has helped them to do some fantastic writing in their English.

Y2 Block Printing

In the style of William Morris, the Year 2 children have been making 'block' designs and using them to print repeated patterns. Careful cutting is required to create a sturdy block and much consideration required in order to select effective colours. I think they've done a tremendous job!

Micro-Habitats

The natural world is often closer than you think. Turn over a rock or a log, or get down to ground level and have a good look - it's all there to be found, if you are patient and careful. That's what our Year 2 children have been doing, and haven't they found some amazing creatures!
