Year 6 Sports day

Friday 29th June was the Year 6 sports day, and you couldn't have picked better weather for it. Under the blazing sun at Park Academy, the children put on a fantastic display of sporting prowess in events such as: sprint, sack race, egg and spoon race and the space hopper. There was even an opportunity for the parents and carers to get involved, with a hotly contested sprint, before the children got what they wanted... a teachers race - won by the fleet footed Mr Behizad! What an amazing day!

I want to ride my bicycle...

Attention all keen cyclists: Our Links coordinator, Mr Malkin, will be leading a 4 mile ride around High Hazels Park on Sunday 25th February. It is targeted at 5 - 15 year-olds and will be a great chance to develop your confidence on two wheels, as well as enjoy the beautiful scenery. Click on the link to the right to find out more and sign up!

Y5 football

The Y5 boys were in football action on Thursday 16th November. In a closely fought series of games under the lights at Park academy, they got off to a flying start by beating Manor Lodge 4-1 (with a spectacular volley by Lucas being the pick of the goals). Narrow defeats to Wybourn B 2-0, Wybourn A 1-0 and Acres Hill 1-0, couldn't take away from an excellent evenings football action. Well done boys!

Sports Hall Athletics

Autumn saw the return of Sports hall athletics at Park Academy. Our team of Y5 and Y6 boys and girls ran, jumped and threw their way to a creditable 3rd place on the night. Particular highlights came from Christ in the boys seated throw and Casey in the speed jump, but everyone tried their best for the team - as can be seen from the pictures in the gallery to the right.

Once again, a huge thank you to Mr Malkin for arranging a smoothly run competition, that was played in the right spirit by all of the teams present on the night.

We have now received the official photographs from the 'Go Run for Fun' event, and they are absolutely stunning. Thanks to Mr Malkin from Links for passing them on!

Go Run for Fun 2016

On Wednesday 28th September, Years 3-6 walked to Manor Park Fields to join a number of other schools in the area to take part in the annual 'Go Run for Fun' event.

The sun was shining, and everyone looked smart in their pink t-shirts and colourful laces while they warmed up to the music that the DJ was playing. Some were even lucky enough to meet the colourful mascots that had come to cheer the children on!

Once the race began, everyone worked really hard to complete the 1 mile course (including lots of the teachers!).

A special mention must go to Jan Horvath in Year 6, who came first overall, closely followed by Cohen Holt who came third and Alan Matam who came 4th.

Well done everyone!

KS2 Sports Day

On Wednesday 6th July we had our amazing Olympic themed KS2 Sports Day. Each class chose a country to represent, and points were awarded for each event. Countries as diverse as Cuba, Spain, Slovakia and India took part in the events, and all of the parents and carers who came were treated to some excellent races! But,after Mr Chatterton's Brazil seemed to have it sewn up, the eventual winners were the hombres and senoritas of Mexico (Mrs Ferguson's Y3 class).

Arriba Arriba!

 KS1 Sports Day

On Thursday 7th July, it was the turn of KS1 to take to the track, as they had their Sports Day at Park Academy. The focus of the day was mainly on having fun, and it was definitely mission accomplished as the boys and girls (and even parents) got into the spirit of things and took part in sprints, hula hoop races, space hoppers and, of course, the egg and spoon race. A massive thanks to all the staff who helped out, especially Miss Whealdon-Wright who did a fantastic job in organising both days!
